    Comfort and Joy

It’s been cloudy and chilly, it seems for weeks. Nothing says “curl up with a good book, a blanket and a hot cup of tea” like perpetual clouds and chilly air. If you love a good cozy mystery, or a nice little romance, or even a ghost story of sorts, then you’ll enjoy this little collection of Christmas novellas .. or what my friend, Chautona Havig likes to call “Noellas”. Get your blanket and tea or hot liquid of choice and snug down for a really good read (or two or three!!). Giving Up Everything You Know ….

… I know that sounds like the start of a blog about someone going on a long journey with just a backpack and a few dollars in their pocket. Well, when someone makes a decision to make a huge change in their life (or the change is thrust upon them), there is always some element of giving up and feeling loss. Sometimes, it’s a spiritual change, where you give up things that interfere with your relationship with God, or a physical change, where you give up things that cause your body to be sick, fat and tired. In Cassie’s case (the star of Vintage Wren), she gives up things that…

Not A Word by Chautona Havig

LOVED IT!!!!   It is the “origin story” of one of my favorite people, as he wanders through Chautona’s imagination.  I read Not A Word in 2014.  I knew I liked it, but couldn’t remember the whole story, so figured I’d skim it again: Read the first few chapters, the middle and the last and get the gist of it, so I could review it.  I started reading and couldn’t put it down … again!!!! I realized I had forgotten so much of it, but there was a bunch I remembered and enjoyed all over again.  And the surrounding story is profound.  If you read it, be sure to read the…

    Chautona Havig

About 7 years ago, when I first got my tablet, I downloaded the Kindle app.  I knew you could get kindle books for free and so went looking for encouraging and uplifting Christian fiction.  I ran across some duds, but the nice thing about the freebie aspect is, you don’t pay for it .. so move on.  I found a book called “Past Forward” by Chautona Havig … looked good, it was free so why not.    The book was just the first in a large collection of volumes.   I signed up for Chautona’s emails, joined her contests and found out that she was giving away volumes from this…
